WATERVILLE, Maine — As Maine’s 2026 election season continues, The Maine Mirror is highlighting candidates from across the political spectrum to help voters learn more about the people seeking public office. This installment features Shawn Packard, the Republican candidate for Maine House District 64. About Shawn Packard
According to his campaign website, Shawn Packard is a lifelong Mainer who grew up in foster homes across the state. His campaign says those experiences gave him firsthand insight into the shortcomings of Maine’s youth system and continue to shape his commitment to reform.
Packard’s campaign also states that he serves on several local boards and committees, including the AYCC, Discover Waterville, the Mid-Maine Chamber of Commerce, and the Mid-Maine Technical Center (MMTC), where he works alongside others to strengthen community programs, support local businesses, and create opportunities for Maine families.
2026 Campaign
Shawn Packard is running as the Republican candidate for Maine House District 64 in the November 3, 2026 General Election.
According to his campaign, Packard is focused on protecting Maine’s youth, strengthening local communities, and bringing what he describes as “common-sense leadership” to Augusta. His campaign highlights several priorities, including:
- Reforming Maine’s foster care system
- Protecting Maine’s natural resources
- Improving practical education in schools
- Addressing addiction and homelessness with compassion and accountability
- Restoring integrity to public service
His campaign states that it is guided by humility, conviction, and a commitment to protecting children, supporting families, and strengthening Maine communities.
