About Brian Pellerin
Brian Pellerin is a lifelong York County resident who grew up in Saco and has lived in Dayton for more than two decades. According to his campaign, he has more than 30 years of law enforcement experience and currently serves as Chief Deputy of the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, where he oversees law enforcement operations, corrections, civil process, and agency budgeting.
Pellerin began his law enforcement career with the Buxton Police Department before serving with the Saco Police Department, where he held positions including patrol officer, detective, sergeant, and police chief. He also served as a Special Agent with the United States Secret Service and later as a Special Agent with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General. In addition, he served for twelve years on the Maine Criminal Justice Academy Board of Trustees, including seven years as its chair. 2026 Campaign
Brian Pellerin is running as an Unenrolled (Independent) candidate for York County Sheriff in the November 3, 2026 General Election. According to his campaign, he chose to run as an independent because he believes law enforcement leadership should remain focused on serving the public rather than political parties.
His campaign emphasizes:
- Professional, experienced leadership
- Transparency and accountability
- Public trust in law enforcement
- Supporting deputies and corrections staff
- Fiscal responsibility
- Community-focused policing

Throughout his career, Pellerin has served in municipal, county, state, and federal law enforcement roles. His experience includes local policing, executive leadership within the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, federal criminal investigations, and statewide criminal justice oversight through the Maine Criminal Justice Academy Board of Trustees.
According to his campaign, this breadth of experience has provided him with firsthand knowledge of patrol operations, criminal investigations, corrections, budgeting, personnel management, and interagency cooperation.
