AUGUSTA, Maine — The Maine Legislature’s Government Oversight Committee (GOC) no longer lists a date for its next meeting following the cancellation of its previously scheduled July 15, 2026 legislative meeting.

The change appears on the Legislature’s official committee pages.

The committee calendar previously showed a 9:30 a.m. legislative meeting on July 15, but the entry has since been marked “Legislative Meeting Cancelled.” The committee’s meeting information page has also been updated to state that the next meeting is “TBD,” with the agenda likewise listed as “TBD.”

The Government Oversight Committee plays a unique role within the Maine Legislature, overseeing matters related to government accountability and the Office of Program Evaluation and Government Accountability (OPEGA). When meetings are canceled or delayed, any pending committee business must generally wait until a future meeting is scheduled.

At this time, no public explanation for the cancellation appears on the committee’s official meeting page.
