BANGOR, Maine — Brandon Morris says his decision to run for Bangor City Council comes from a desire to help restore unity and put the people of Bangor first.

Morris told The Maine Mirror that he believes Bangor has changed over the years and that residents deserve leadership focused on listening, collaboration, and practical solutions.

“My core values—integrity, accountability, and sustainable growth—will guide my decisions on the council,” Morris said. “Local government works best when it listens, acts transparently, and prioritizes practical solutions to our community’s challenges.”

Asked what motivated him to enter public service, Morris said he felt the timing was right and that he wanted to help bring people together.

“What made me want to run was really timing and being sick of how everything has gotten worse in Bangor from the way we used to be,” he said. “Public service nowadays is so divided. I want to unite and put the Bangor people first.”

Morris also believes City Council should work harder on behalf of residents.

“They need someone young and someone with knowledge who is hardworking and willing to go the extra mile for the people of Bangor,” he said.

If elected, Morris says his first priorities would be supporting Bangor’s educators and first responders.

“Helping our teachers get paid and supporting our first responders,” he said when asked what issue he would tackle first.

Beyond those priorities, Morris says he hopes to promote economic opportunity, strengthen local schools, invest in accessible public infrastructure, and encourage collaboration among city leaders regardless of political differences.

As Bangor voters prepare for the upcoming election, Morris says his campaign is centered on bringing people together while focusing on the everyday needs of the community.
